John Sperstad has extensive experience in both law enforcement and transportation. Beginning a career in the US Army as an Infantry Soldier from May 1989 to May 1997, John then served as a Police Sergeant at Wilton Police Department from October 2001 to September 2005, followed by a role as a Police Officer at West Branch Police Department from September 2005 to November 2006. Since July 2006, John has been employed as a Locomotive Engineer at Canadian Pacific Railway. Educational credentials include certification as a Law Enforcement Officer from Iowa Law Enforcement Academy in 2002, as well as degrees in Emergency Medical Technology/Technician (EMT Paramedic) and Fire Science/Fire-fighting from Kirkwood Community College in 2001.
