Max Elgaard has a strong background in project management and engineering, with extensive experience in the field. Beginning in 1973 as a Ph. D. student and research engineer at the Technical University of Denmark, they went on to work as a project engineer at COWI from 1976 to 1979. Max then became a project manager at DHI from 1979 to 1980 before joining LICconsult A/S as a co-founder in 1976, where they developed and marketed advanced flow calculations for various industries. In 1980, they became the head of the offshore department at Ramboll, overseeing major offshore projects in the Danish North Sea. Max held several leadership positions at Ramboll until 1994, including group technical director and director of Carl Bro Denmark. From 1994 to 1998, they served as the managing director of Maxcon Aps and Zentech Engineering Aps. Max then joined Grontmij A/S as the director of Carl Bro Denmark until 1998. Following this, Max was the head of department at Bascon A/S from 2001 to 2006 and the project director and head of department at Orbicon from 2006 to 2009. Since 2009, they have been with COWI in various roles, including chief project manager and associate project director, specializing in contract and project management for the 1915 Canakkale Bridge in Turkey, a suspension bridge that set a world record.
Max Elgaard received their M.Sc.(Eng.) degree in Civil and Structural Engineering from DTU - Technical University of Denmark from 1968 to 1973. Max then went on to earn their Ph.D. in Civil and Structural Engineering from the same institution from 1973 to 1980.
