Dr. Lena Schaffert serves as an Expert for Metabolic Engineering at Covestro since June 2020, bringing substantial expertise from previous roles, including a Ph.D. focused on industrial biotechnology from Bielefeld University. Between January 2016 and June 2020, Dr. Schaffert conducted research at CeBiTec, focusing on the genetic engineering of Actinoplanes sp. SE50/110 to enhance acarbose production yields. Earlier experiences include internships at Bayer Technology Services, Kode Biotech, Institut für Medizinische Mikrobiologie, and Fraunhofer UMSICHT, where relevant skills in metabolic engineering, microbial analysis, and biotechnology were developed. Academic achievements include a Master's degree and Bachelor's degree in Molecular Biotechnology, both from Bielefeld University.
