About the Role
As a Staff Accountant at Cover Genius, you will join our growing Global Financial Operations & Reporting team. In this role, you will be a knowledgeable and resourceful member of the team, carrying out daily accounting functions related to our insurance business, and key financial processes that drive and sustain our business’s rapid growth.

What will your day look like? You will...
- Play a key role in the finance function, including responsibilities for various accounting processes, accounts payable and accounts receivable, cash/treasury management, expense management, compliance, and internal controls.
- Perform month-end close activities such as premium and claims recognition, accruals, bank reconciliations, G&A expenses, balance sheet reconciliations, intercompany transactions and workpaper preparation.
- Perform monthly premium and claims bordereau reconciliations.
- Assist with developing and monitoring budgets, perform variance analysis, and provide insightful commentary on financial reports.
- Support financial statement audits, which includes working with the internal accounting team and external audit teams to ensure complete submission of financial information and supporting workpapers.
- Identify opportunities for automation, standardization, and overall process improvement as we scale internal processes.
- Partake in ad hoc accounting or finance projects and analyses.
To help us level up, you'll ideally have:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance.
- Experience in accounting and finance operations for insurance carriers and/or captive insurers preferred.
- CPA or CA preferred.
- Strong ability to quickly identify both risks and opportunities while maintaining a strong focus on both process improvements and results.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Proactive self-starter, resourceful with a strong work ethic.
- Capable of working independently as well as working in a team.
- Understanding of Insurance programs and insurance journal postings.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel.
- Experience with Netsuite.
