Don is an Emeritus Dean of the College of Engineering at the Georgia Institute of Technology whose primary research interest for over 40 years has been the role of biomechanics in the initiation, detection, and treatment of cardiovascular disease. His contributions have garnered over 13,000 citations on Google Scholar and led to numerous awards and honors, including election to the National Academy of Engineering. As Dean of Engineering at Georgia Tech, he was responsible for a unit with over 400 faculty members, 12,000 students, and $300M in the total annual budget.
