Lars Seifert is an experienced environmental health professional currently serving as the Deputy Director of Operations and Director of Environmental Health Services at the Santa Barbara County Public Health Department since October 2020. In this role, Lars aims to enhance residents' quality of life by enforcing public health and environmental regulations across 17 programs within Santa Barbara County. Prior to this position, Lars held the role of Chief of Departmental Operations at the San Diego County Department of Environmental Health, directing the Land & Water Quality Division with oversight of a $7.3 million budget. Lars has also served as Environmental Health Services Manager for Imperial County Public Health, managing various programs related to public drinking water, solid waste, and liquid waste, while actively participating in numerous committees and grant management initiatives. Lars holds a Master of Arts in International Relations and Environmental Policy from Boston University and a Bachelor of Science in Biology/Environmental Studies from Taylor University.
