Baraka Juma, CFA has extensive work experience in various roles and departments. Baraka worked as a Chief Revenue Officer (CRO) in the Corporate, Government Agencies and Debt Management department of the Revenue Directorate in the County Government of Mombasa. In this role, they were responsible for Revenue Administration and Corporate Relations for all Government Agencies. Baraka also served as a Revenue Supervisor, where they managed a Revenue Center and supervised Revenue Officers. Additionally, they worked as a Finance Officer in the department of Devolution and Public Administration, where they handled budget monitoring and preparation of reports. Baraka also worked as an Investment Officer in the Directorate of Investment, preparing investment proposals and engaging potential investors. Earlier in their career, they worked as an Administrative Assistant in the Department of Trade, Investment and Tourism, providing administrative support and ensuring the security of office documents and equipment. Outside of their government work, Baraka co-founded and is the Head of Finance and Administration for the Governors Young Leadership Program, a youth mentorship program focusing on climate change. Prior to these roles, they worked briefly as an Accountant at KRA.
Baraka Juma, CFA, completed their Bachelor's degree in Finance at the Technical University of Mombasa from 2012 to 2016. In 2017, they attended the Vision Institute of Professionals, focusing on CPA. In 2019, Baraka attended the Kenya School of Government, studying Public Procurement and Contract Management. In 2022, they pursued further education at Covenant of Mayors in Sub-Saharan Africa, specializing in Climate Finance for African Cities. Baraka also enrolled in the African Group of Negotiators Expert Support program in the same year, focusing on Climate. Additionally, Baraka participated in the Governor's Young Leadership Program - GYLP from 2021 to 2022, focusing on Leadership.
Baraka has obtained various certifications, including Operationalizing Article 6.2 of the Paris Agreement from the UNDP in February 2023, Climate Finance from Covenant of Mayors in Sub-Saharan Africa in August 2022, and Certified Public Accountant from kasneb in March 2022. Baraka has also completed certifications in business data collection, synthesis, and analysis for developing countries from the Shenzhen Association for Promoting International Economic & Technological Cooperation - China in August 2021, wastewater treatment construction for developing countries from the Biogas Institute of Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs (BIOMA), P.R. China in August 2021, ecological management and ecotourism development for Belt and Road Countries from the Biogas Institute of Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs (BIOMA), P.R. China in July 2021, and transportation infrastructure construction under Belt and Road Initiative from the Academy for International Business Officials, Ministry of Commerce, the P.R.China in June 2021. Baraka also attended the World Bank Youth Summit 2021 on Resilient Recovery for People and Planet organized by the World Bank in June 2021.
