Lembit Sihver

Chief Technology Officer at Cosmic Shielding Corporation

Lembit Sihver has held a variety of roles in the nuclear science and engineering field. Lembit began their career in 1991 as a STA Scientific Fellow at the National Institute of Radiological Sciences. Lembit then moved to Uppsala University as a Researcher in 1993 and was a Visiting Scientist at GSI Helmholtz Centre for Heavy Ion Research the same year. In 1995, they became a Senior Specialist and Product Group Leader at Westinghouse Atom AB. In 2015, they were appointed Full Professor of Medical Rad. Physics with Specialization in Ion Therapy and Head of Radiation Physics at Atominstitut - Technische Universität Wien, as well as Head of Applied Medical Physics Research at EBG MedAustron GmbH. In 2020, they became Chief Technology Officer at Cosmic Shielding Corporation, and in 2021 they were appointed Director for CRREAT at NPI of the CAS at INP. Lembit has been a Full Professor of Nuclear Science and Engieering, Head of Nuclear Science and Eng. Research Group at Chalmers University of Technology since 2002, and will become a Visiting Professor at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 2022.

Lembit Sihver's education history includes a Dr. of Technology (PhD) in Nuclear Chemistry/Nuclear Physics from Uppsala University, which they obtained between 1988 and 1990. Prior to this, they received a Licentiate of Technology in Nuclear Chemistry/Nuclear Physics from Uppsala University between 1986 and 1988. Lembit also completed a MSc in Chemical Engineering from KTH Royal Institute of Technology between 1982 and 1986. Additionally, they have an Officer certification from Anti-aircraft military service and a Master of Science - MS from KTH Royal Institute of Technology.
