Dimitra Dimitrakopoulou currently serves as Head of Translational Research and Research Scientist & Visiting Professor at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology since May 2022. With a long-standing academic career, Dimitrakopoulou has been a tenured Assistant Professor of Civic and Participatory Journalism at Aristotle University of Thessaloniki since September 2006, although currently on leave. Previous roles include Lecturer at the MIT Media Lab, Research Fellow under the Marie Skłodowska-Curie Global Fellowship, and Visiting Assistant Professor at the University of Zurich. Dimitrakopoulou's research expertise encompasses the media's role in conflict dynamics, underscored by work as Principal Investigator for a project funded by the European Commission. Educational credentials include a PhD from Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, a Program on Negotiation from Harvard University, and an M.Phil. from the University of Stirling. Dimitrakopoulou has also held a communications leadership position with the Thessaloniki Bar Association.
