Vijay Karkare has extensive work experience in the field of executive search and consulting. Vijay started their career as a Management Trainee at E Merck Pharmaceutical Pricate Limited in 1981, followed by roles at GSK Pharmaceuticals Limited and Alkem Laboratories Ltd. In 1992, they joined ABC Consultants Private Limited where they worked in management consulting and executive search for 5 years. After that, they served as Vice President at CHR Global Private Limited, where they gained experience in crisis management and team management. In 2000, they became the Executive Director at Gilbert Tweed Associates Private Limited, a global executive search firm. In 2004, they founded Cornerstone International Group - India and currently serves as the Managing Director. In 2021, they also took on the role of Global Head- Pharma Life Science & Healthcare Practice at Cornerstone International Group. Throughout their career, they have successfully handled various assignments and gained expertise in leadership, board & general management consulting, executive coaching, and employee assessment.

Vijay Karkare completed their MBA in Marketing & Finance from Jamnalal Bajaj Institute of Management Studies between 1983 and 1986. Vijay then pursued a degree in M.Pharm in Pharmacy from UDCT, Mumbai from 1978 to 1981. In 2001, Vijay attended the Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad, although the specific degree or field of study they pursued during that time is not mentioned.
