Leonardo Cardia Caserta currently serves as an Assistant Research Professor at Cornell University College of Veterinary Medicine and holds the position of Interim Associate Director of the Virology Laboratory at Cornell University. With a strong background in veterinary virology, Leonardo has developed cost-effective sequencing assays and vector-based vaccines for livestock viruses and has conducted genomic surveillance for SARS-CoV-2. Prior experience includes a post-doctoral role at South Dakota State University focused on viral stability in swine feed and sequencing assay development, as well as a brief stint as a services assistant in industrial wastewater treatment. Educational qualifications include a Bachelor's degree in Veterinary Medicine, a Master's degree in Genetics and Molecular Biology, and a PhD in Genetics and Molecular Biology, all from reputable Brazilian institutions.
