Torey Barr

Director, Business Development -- East Region at Cordia

Torey Barr has a diverse work experience, with their most recent role being as the Business Development Manager for the Northeast Region at Cordia. In this position, they were responsible for selling district energy offerings and services to targeted end-use markets, qualifying sales prospects, making effective presentations, and closing sales.

Prior to this, Torey worked at Arizona Public Service (APS) as a Key Accounts Manager from November 2016 to June 2019. In this role, they project system load requirements and committed the most economical APS resources to meet customer demand. Torey also analyzed market conditions and purchased/sold energy to meet system needs, as well as negotiated sales of energy to other utilities and marketers.

Torey also has experience as an Energy Trader at both Arizona Public Service (APS) and American Electric Power. At APS, they traded energy, analyzed market conditions, and purchased/sold energy to meet system needs. At American Electric Power, they optimized AEP's portfolio in the real-time market through bilateral transactions with customers and made reliable and economic decisions on real-time unit issues and intra-day planning.

Before their roles in the energy industry, Torey worked as a Middle Office Associate at Mellon Capital Management. In this position, they were responsible for ensuring executed trades were captured, matched, and confirmed with brokers. Torey also worked closely with broker counterparties, custodians, and other third parties to ensure trade confirmation and transmission.

Torey's early work experience includes a role as a Global Securities Lending Specialist at BNY Mellon, where they ensured timely and accurate recall/reallocation of securities to satisfy sales. Torey also developed positive relationships with on-loan brokers and worked with US Equities/Bonds traders to solve lending-related issues.

Torey Barr attended Fox Chapel Area High School from 1999 to 2003. They then went on to study Political Science at The Ohio State University from 2003 to 2007. Torey Barr also holds additional certifications from the Association of Energy Engineers, including the Business Energy Professional and Renewable Energy Professional certifications.
