Santiago Gallego Vega has extensive work experience in the aviation industry. Santiago began their career in 1996 as a Commercial Pilot at Aeromas Taxi Aereo. Santiago then joined PLUNA LÃneas Aéreas Uruguayas S.A., where they held various roles including Instructor Commander for CRJ900 NG and Commander for B737-200 and B737-300 Efis. Santiago also served as a Co-pilot for B767-300 ER and B757-200. In 2013, Santiago worked as a Instructor Commander for CRJ700 at LAC LÃnea Aerea Cuenca in Ecuador. In 2014, they joined BQB Lineas Aéreas as a Commander in training for A319. Currently, Santiago is employed at Copa Airlines since 2014, where they hold the position of Aviation Safety Lead Investigator and Captain for various aircraft models, including B737 NG/MAX, B737 NG, and E190.
Santiago Gallego Vega attended IATA Training in 2023, where they obtained a degree in Airline Safety Investigation. In 2019, they also completed a program in Root Cause Analysis at the same institution.
