As a Director of Design and Associate Principal, David Schweim brings a vast level of international and domestic design leadership to Cooper Carry. While working for international firms, David created award-winning projects, including Central Park Tower in Manhattan (which currently holds the title of world’s tallest residential tower), Una Residences in Miami, Waldorf Astoria Beijing, and WeBank HQ in Shenzhen, China. His diversity of expertise in project typologies spans all scales of the built environment and includes residential, workplace, transportation, hospitality, retail, master planning, and mixed-use developments.
David’s design philosophy is based on the belief that each project is unique; it is the designer’s role to collaborate with the client and influential stakeholders through an iterative process to discover the soul of each project. His belief is that architecture, at its best, profoundly enhances the environments we interact within. David’s process utilizes the integration of algorithmic and visualization computational tools, which allow clients and other project collaborators to visually experience a project during development as well as understand the design’s performance.
David has a Master of Architecture from the University of Pennsylvania and a Bachelor of Architecture from the University of Florida. He is a registered architect, and a member of the American Institute of Architects (AIA).
