Emma Byrne

711 Summer Law Clerk at Cook County Public Defender

Emma Byrne currently serves as a 711 Summer Law Clerk for the Cook County Public Defender since May 2023. Byrne has held various roles in the National Lawyers Guild at Chicago-Kent, including Secretary, The Chicago Area School Liaison, and 1L Representative since September 2021. Previously, Byrne worked as a Violence Prevention Researcher with the Cook County Southland Juvenile Justice Council and gained legal experience as a Judicial Extern for the Hon. Sara L. Ellis at the U.S. District Courts for the Northern District of Illinois. Additionally, Byrne was Co-President of the Gender Justice Center at Seattle University and held the positions of Redhawk Ambassador and Assistant Program Coordinator for the Gender Justice Center from April 2018 to June 2021. Byrne is pursuing a Doctor of Law (JD) at the Chicago-Kent College of Law and holds a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science, Philosophy, and Women, Gender, & Sexuality Studies from Seattle University.
