Thomas Ballinger is a skilled software engineer with diverse experience in backend and frontend technologies. Currently at Convex since January 2022, Thomas specializes in developing scalable solutions using JavaScript and Rust. Previous roles include Team Lead Manager at Reduct.Video and Software Engineer positions at Observable and Dropbox, where Thomas contributed to innovative tech stacks and UI prototypes. Instructing at the Bradfield School of Computer Science, Thomas developed a comprehensive programming languages course. Early career experiences include facilitating at the Recurse Center, and a technical research role at Harvard Medical School, where Thomas coauthored several medical publications. Thomas holds a BA in Physics from Carleton College.
