Laura Hansen's work experience begins in 2005 as an Engineering Assistant at TerraTek, a Schlumberger Company. Laura then interned as an Aeroflight Dynamics Intern at NASA Ames Research Center in 2006. In 2007, Laura became an Earthquake Engineer at URS Corporation and held this role until 2011. From 2010 to 2013, they worked as a Special Projects Librarian at the Branner Earth Sciences Library at Stanford University. In 2017, Laura founded Northanger Soapworks and also worked as a Bookkeeper at Kindermusik with Debbie from April 2017 to September 2019. Currently, they are employed as a Quality Assurance Engineer at Convergent Science since June 2020.

Laura Hansen began their education in 2001 at the University of Utah, where they obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Geophysics in 2005. Laura then pursued a Master of Science degree in Civil Engineering at Stanford University from 2005 to 2007. In 2008, Laura completed a certification as an Engineer-in-Training from the California Board for Professional Engineers and Land Surveyors. Later, from 2008 to 2011, they attended San Jose State University and earned a Master of Library and Information Science degree, specializing in Library and Information Science.
