Vincent Caruso

Bioinformatics Scientist III at Convergent Genomics

Vincent Caruso has worked in a variety of fields since 2002. Vincent began their career as an Electrical Engineer at The Aerospace Corporation, then transitioned to a Remodeling Carpenter at Spectrum Construction Pacific in 2007. In 2014, they became Self Employed as a Remodeling Contractor/Carpenter. In 2017, they were hired as a Bioinformatics Intern at the Oregon State Public Health Laboratory, where they designed and executed a validation study for using the lab's Illumina MiSeq sequencers for outbreak identification and serotyping. In 2018, they were a Bioinformatics Fellow at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, where they contributed to the Global Hepatitis Outbreak and Surveillance Technology (GHOST) system. Currently, they are a Bioinformatics Scientist III at Convergent Genomics.

Vincent Caruso's education history includes a Bachelor of Science in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from the University of Southern California, which they completed in 2002. Vincent then went on to earn a Master of Science in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from Columbia University in 2006. In 2012, they attended Portland Community College, though no degree or field of study was specified. Finally, in 2018, they earned a Master of Science in Bioinformatics from Oregon Health & Science University.
