Christopher Kennedy

Sr MSC Power Systems IBM I Engineer at Converge Technology Solutions

Christopher Kennedy has a diverse work experience in the field of Power Systems and IBM I engineering. Christopher started their career in 1993 as an AS/400 Administrator at Cal Poly Corporation, where they successfully managed the conversion from HP 3000 to AS/400 retail system. From 1997 to 1999, they worked as a Retail Operations Manager and IBM I administrator at Santa Clara University, overseeing the daily operations and maintenance of the IBM AS400 commercial retail system.

In 1999, Kennedy joined West Marine as a Senior Manager of IT Operations and Administration, where they supervised computer operations staff in a 24/7 environment and provided production control support. Christopher also participated in PCI and SOX compliance audits.

From 2005 to 2007, Kennedy served as the Manager of Enterprise Systems/iSeries Senior System Administrator at Granite Construction. In this role, they were the technical lead for all iSeries operations and played a crucial role in the migration from World A7.3 to Oneworld ERP system.

Christopher then joined The Tamalpais Group as a Senior Systems Engineer/Power Systems Architect from 2007 to 2009, where they designed, planned, and implemented iSeries/pSeries upgrades. Christopher also provided general system administration and performance troubleshooting for customers.

From 2010 to 2011, Kennedy worked as a Senior Systems Engineer for Copart, specializing in Power Systems. Christopher then joined Nelnet in 2011 as a Power Systems Architect/Engineer, where they had primary responsibility for all IBM Power Systems architecture and daily support.

Most recently, Kennedy worked at Software Information Systems and Converge Technology Solutions Corp. as a Senior MSC Power Systems IBM I Engineer. Christopher transitioned to Converge Technology Solutions Corp. after it purchased SIS in late 2020, where they continued the same job in a much bigger company.

Throughout their career, Kennedy has demonstrated strong expertise in IBM I systems, including vendor product support, performance tuning, capacity planning, and compliance focus. Christopher has also gained significant experience in system administration, hardware and software upgrades, storage attachment, and firmware updates.

Christopher Kennedy obtained their Bachelor of Science degree in Natural Resources Management - GIS from California Polytechnic State University-San Luis Obispo. Christopher attended the university from 1987 to 1993. In addition, they have obtained two certifications: "IBM Certified System Administrator - IBM i V1 (V7R3)" from IBM Professional Certification in May 2018, and "Certified IBM I System Administrator - 7.1" from IBM in March 2012.
