Helmi Fraser has a diverse work experience, starting with an ongoing position as an Artificial Intelligence Engineer at Continuum Industries since 2022. Prior to that, they worked as a Researcher at Edinburgh Centre for Robotics from September 2018 to August 2022, focusing on computer vision and machine learning for scene understanding in autonomous vehicles and mobile robots. Additionally, they served as a Teaching Assistant at Heriot-Watt University from January 2018 to November 2019, assisting with robotics and embedded systems courses. Moreover, they completed a Software Developer Internship at MathWorks from July 2019 to October 2019, where they contributed to the development of deep learning and text analytics features for MATLAB. Earlier in their career, they worked as an Assistant Robotics Developer at Robotical in 2017 and as an Engineering Intern at Sansible Wearables in 2016.
Helmi Fraser completed a Bachelor of Engineering (BEng) degree in Robotics, Autonomous, and Interactive Systems from Heriot-Watt University from 2013 to 2017. Following that, from 2017 to 2018, they pursued a Master of Science (MS) degree in Robotics and Autonomous Systems at the same university. From 2018 to 2022, Helmi Fraser simultaneously pursued a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree in Robotics and Autonomous Systems at both Heriot-Watt University and The University of Edinburgh.
