Melanie De Perio has been working in the healthcare industry since 2014. Melanie began their career as a Pre-Operative and Post-Operative Registered Nurse at New York Eye and Ear Infirmary of Mount Sinai, where they provided pre-operative and post-operative assessments and patient teachings for 5-15 patients per shift, monitored vital signs and blood sugar levels, and administered medications. Melanie also served as a Circulating and Scrub Nurse at the same hospital. In 2015, they became a PACU/Critical Care Registered Nurse at New York Methodist Hospital, where they provided direct patient care for post-operative patients and managed post-operative pain and symptoms of nausea and vomiting. In 2021, they began working as a Recovery Care Coordinator, Market Team at Contessa Health, where they coordinate care and facilitates communication between care team members and vendors for patients admitted into Mount Sinai's "virtual hospital", provides hospital-level care within patients' homes, and educates eligible patients and provider care teams on the Mount Sinai at Home services and benefits. Melanie also works as a COVID-19 Testing and Telehealth Registered Nurse at WithHealth, where they provide concierge COVID-19 testing to support workplace and entertainment safety for film and television productions, and educates and guides COVID-19 testing via telehealth for individual home testing and large film crews.

Melanie De Perio obtained their Bachelor's degree in Registered Nursing/Registered Nurse from the University of Santo Tomas between 2005 and 2010. In 2018, they obtained three certifications from the American Heart Association | American Stroke Association: Advanced Cardiac Life Support, Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers, and Pediatric Advanced Life Support. Currently, they are pursuing a University Certificate Program in Women's Global Health Leadership from Rutgers University, which they are expected to complete in 2023. Additionally, they are working towards a Master of Science in Nursing in Health Informatics from Grand Canyon University, which they are expected to finish in 2022.
