Ruud Jansen has extensive experience in environmental management and sustainable development across multiple organizations in Botswana and Africa. Currently serving as the Executive Secretary for the Gaborone Declaration for Sustainability in Africa at Conservation International since October 2015, Jansen has previously held significant positions including Chief Technical Advisor for UNDP projects focused on poverty and environment, such as the Poverty Environment Initiative and the Environment Support Programme, demonstrating a strong commitment to integrating environmental considerations into national development. Jansen's earlier roles include serving as a Country Representative for IUCN and working as a consultant for various organizations. Jansen holds a Master’s degree in Human and Economic Geography from the University of Groningen.
