Matt Fleury

President & Chief Executive Officer at Connecticut Science Center

Matt Fleury has a diverse work experience spanning over several industries and roles. Matt started their career as a Broadcast Journalist, where they worked in various on-air and editorial capacities for radio and TV stations in Albany, New York, and Hartford, Connecticut.

In 1995, Fleury joined Comcast Communications as the Executive Director of Communications, where they handled internal and external communications for the 11-state division.

In 2000, they became the Director of Marketing and Communications for the Capital City Economic Development Authority, playing a crucial role in driving development initiatives in Hartford, including the project incubation for the Connecticut Science Center.

Fleury's most significant role came in 2003 when they joined the Connecticut Science Center, initially as the Executive VP and COO, where they were instrumental in planning, design, and implementation of the iconic Science Center. Matt then became the President and Chief Executive Officer, leading the creation of a successful STEM learning destination, serving around 330,000 people per year.

Throughout their career, Fleury demonstrated strong leadership skills, strategic planning abilities, and expertise in project management and communications.

Matt Fleury earned a Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree in Business Administration from the University of Connecticut School of Business in 2007. Matt also holds a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Business & Communications from Charter Oak State College. In terms of executive development programs, they attended the Harvard Kennedy School for Performance Measurement and Governance as Leadership, as well as the Yale School of Management for Leadership & Team Effectiveness. Fleury completed the Director Professionalism foundation course at the National Association of Corporate Directors (NACD). Matt obtained an Associate of Arts (AA) degree from Berkshire Community College in 1985. Currently, they are set to receive an Honorary Doctor of Humane Letters degree from Southern Connecticut State University in 2023.
