Steve Smith, CAE has a comprehensive work experience spanning over three decades. Steve is currently the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Association Management Center (AMC) since April 2020. In their role, Steve is focused on leading AMC through a new period of growth and transition by leveraging the expertise and creativity of the staff to help clients achieve their missions.

Prior to their current position, Steve served as the Vice President of Client Relations at AMC from June 2018 to March 2020. In this role, they provided coaching and counsel to select healthcare executives regarding governance, leadership, and growth opportunities.

Before joining AMC, Steve held the position of CEO at the American Academy of Hospice and Palliative Medicine (AAHPM) from August 2007 to March 2020. During their tenure, they oversaw all financial, administrative, planning, and governance activities for the national medical society. Additionally, they collaborated with the board of directors and senior staff to develop and implement growth strategies to advance the field of hospice and palliative medicine.

Prior to their roles at AMC and AAHPM, Steve held various positions at organizations such as the American Academy of Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation and the Alzheimer's Association. Steve'sresponsibilities included directing program and product development, internal communications, marketing communications, and education initiatives.

Steve's career also includes experiences at Westminster Village Retirement Community and Illinois State University, where they held marketing and resident services roles and served as an admission coordinator, respectively.

Steve Smith, CAE attended Glenbrook South High School from 1981 to 1985. Steve then went on to pursue a Bachelor's and Master's degree in Communications at Illinois State University from 1985 to 1993. In 2013, they obtained the Certified Association Executive (CAE) credential from the American Society of Association Executives (ASAE).
