Architecture Lead Cloud-EIB at Concepts Beyond

JJ Biel-Goebel has a diverse work experience spanning various roles in the engineering field. They currently work as a Fleet Management System Lead Systems Engineer at ALTEN Technology USA, where they support a leading UAM OEM in pursuing certification and the roll-out of fleet level operations. They are responsible for maturing Fleet Operations Center concepts and facilitating certification.

Prior to this, Biel-Goebel worked at Concepts Beyond as an Architecture Lead in various projects. At FAA ANG-C5 Cloud-ERAM-in-a-Box (Cloud-EIB) Demonstration Project, they provided systems engineering and system architecture support for the migration of safety critical operational systems into the cloud. They also developed AWS service architecture and worked on testing procedures and system monitoring. They also supported the FAA ANG-C5 Multi-Regional Trajectory Based Operations (MR TBO) Demonstration Project by participating in development and system functionality breakdown of TBO Concept of Operations and Demonstration scenarios.

Biel-Goebel was a Sr Aerospace Systems Engineer and Program Manager at FAA ANG-C5 Four-Dimensional Trajectory Live Flight Demonstration (4DT LFD) Demonstration Project, where they managed project efforts with multiple stakeholders and contractors. They also provided systems engineering and system architecture support to the FAA ANG-C5 Flight and Flow Information for a Collaborative Environment Execution (FF-ICE/X) Demonstration Project, participating in operational scenario development and breaking down FF-ICE Concept of Operations.

Prior to their roles at Concepts Beyond, Biel-Goebel worked as the COO & Engineering Manager at M3D LLC, where they were responsible for managing operations and engineering. They also served as a Program Manager at the University of Maryland Center for Advanced Transportation Technology Laboratory (CATT Lab), managing a multi-site team and overseeing software development and research activities.

Earlier in their career, Biel-Goebel had various roles at Boeing, including Engineering Lead, Functional Lead, Design Engineer, and Engineer, where they worked on projects related to aircraft structures, mechanical systems design, and aviation programs. They also gained experience as an Aircraft Mechanic and Avionics Repairmen at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University and as a Seahawk and Blackhawk Interiors Designer at Sikorsky Aircraft.

Overall, Biel-Goebel has extensive experience in systems engineering, system architecture, program management, and aviation-related roles, working on projects ranging from cloud migration to aircraft design and operations.

JJ Biel-Goebel has a diverse education history. From 1997 to 2002, they earned a Bachelor's degree in Aerospace, Aeronautical, and Astronautical Engineering from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University. Following this, they completed a Master of Science in Systems Engineering and Quality from The National Graduate School of Quality Management (NGS) from 2006 to 2007.

In 2008, Biel-Goebel enrolled at Drexel University and pursued two Master of Science degrees consecutively. The first was in Materials Engineering, which they completed in 2011. They concurrently pursued another Master of Science degree in Engineering Management, which they also completed in 2011.

Alongside their formal education, Biel-Goebel obtained several certifications. In 2003, they received an Airframe & Power Plant Maintainer License from the FAA. Following this, they acquired a General Radiotelephone Operator Permit and a Marine Radio Operator Permit from the FCC in December of the same year. In January 2004, Biel-Goebel obtained a Commercial Multi-Engine Pilot certification from the FAA. Their most recent certification is a Six Sigma Black Belt, which they obtained in November 2007 from Boeing & National Graduate School. Additionally, they completed a course on Effective Communication from Dale Carnegie in December 2005.
