JOB SUMMARY The Blast Operator will work in the area of machine blast operations, which is accomplished by forcibly propelling a stream of abrasive material through a nozzle and onto the surface of a component. Blasting is often required to remove surface contaminants to prepare parts for repairs and paint.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Through our extensive in-house training program, the successful applicant will be instructed via a series of computer based and hands-on training, the necessary skills of the position. 1. Perform a variety of blast techniques on various types of turbine engine components using a cross mix of equipment (high pressure air, blast tank and other types of equipment) 2. Perform various masking and taping (preparing the part for blasting) and performing actual part blasting operations using materials such as aluminum oxide, plastic grit and wet blast. 3. Set-up and operate blast machines and associated equipment to work instructions and manufacturer specifications. 4. Secure supplies, tooling, and blast product prior to commencing operation. 5. Perform routine inspections of blast equipment. 6. Clean, adjust and maintain equipment using hand tools. 7. Utilize daily, overhead crane and lifting equipment. 8. Follow written and verbal instructions accurately. Read and interpret work instructions in various formats. 9. Communicate all work-related problems and issues with supervisors or other departments in a timely and efficient manner. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS 1. Two years’ work experience in a manufacturing setting. 2. Experience with and/or a familiarity with pressure gages. 3. Demonstrated ability to perform basic shop math, including working with decimals and fractions. 4. Possess a solid mechanical aptitude and the ability to understand step-by-step processes from the reading of work instructions. OTHER QUALIFICATIONS 1. High school or technical school graduate or equivalent. 2. Ability to learn the proper use of hand-tools while demonstrating good eye-hand coordination. 3. Careful attention to detail. 4. Capable of handling multiple tasks 5. Basic knowledge of computers and standard software programs. 6. Read, write, speak, and understand the English language. WORK ENVIRONMENT
