Carlos Coello

Scientific Advisor at Complexica

Carlos Coello received his Ph.D. degree in Computer Science from Tulane University in the United States, and is now a Professor at the Computer Science Department of CINVESTAV-IPN (located in Mexico City).

His research has focused on the design of new meta-heuristic algorithms and techniques for solving single and multi-objective optimization problems (both constrained and unconstrained).

Carlos has received several awards, including the 2012 National Medal of Science and Arts in the area of Physical, Mathematical and Natural Sciences (the highest award that a scientist can receive in Mexico) and the prestigious 2013 IEEE Kiyo Tomiyasu Award "for pioneering contributions to single- and multi-objective optimization techniques using bio-inspired meta-heuristics".

He has produced/co-authored over 450 refereed publications in the form of books, book chapters, journal articles and conference papers.
