Richard Dowsett has extensive work experience in the field of policy, strategy, project management, and contract management. Richard has worked for The National Lottery Community Fund since 2016, starting as a Relationship and Contract Manager for the Fulfilling Lives: Ageing Better program. In this role, they focus on addressing social challenges faced by marginalized communities, with a specific focus on loneliness and social isolation. Richard then transitioned to a Project & Contract Manager role in 2020, followed by a Strategy Advisor role in 2022. Currently, they hold the position of Senior Policy and Practice Manager.
Prior to their current role, Richard worked for the Big Lottery Fund starting in 2009. Richard initially worked as a Grants Officer before becoming a Contract Manager in 2013. In this role, they were responsible for managing complex and high-profile grant investments, with an emphasis on public participation, cross-sector partnerships, and innovative delivery methodologies. Notably, they worked on the Big Music Project, a collaboration between Global Music, the British Phonographic Institute, and UK Youth, which provided young people with development opportunities in the music industry. Richard continued in this position until joining The National Lottery Community Fund in 2016.
Richard Dowsett attended the University of Birmingham from 2005 to 2008, where they obtained a Bachelor's degree in History, specializing in Medieval and Modern history.
