Doug Babbitt

Vice President - Commercial Banking Officer at Community Bank

Doug Babbitt has over 30 years of work experience in various roles in the banking and financial industry. Doug started their career in 1986 with Chittenden Bank, where they worked as a Credit Collector and then as a Commercial Product Developer. In 1991, they joined Leavitt Associates as a Financial Planner, providing comprehensive financial plans to successful businesses. In 1993, they joined People's United Bank as a Vice President, focusing on small business banking and achieving the designation of Certified Small Business Lender.

After working at People's United Bank for almost 20 years, Doug joined Rutland Plywood Corporation in 2011 as the Executive Vice President. In this role, they served as the Chief Financial Officer and Commercial Real Estate Manager, responsible for developing and executing financial strategies and overseeing the operation of a large commercial industrial property.

In 2014, Doug worked as a Self Employed Consultant, providing executive and financial management services for businesses. Doug then joined Community Bank System, Inc. in 2015 as a Vice President - Commercial Banking Officer.

Throughout their career, Doug has gained extensive experience in areas such as cash flow management, working capital conservation, creditor and supplier relationship management, lease negotiations, and fee-based service development. Doug has also demonstrated expertise in small business banking and personal financial planning.

Doug Babbitt attended Middlebury College from 1982 to 1986, where they earned a BA degree magna cum laude in Political Science and Physics. From 1987 to 1988, they studied Business Law 1 & 2 at the University of Vermont. Later, in 1991 to 1993, they pursued the Certified Financial Planner Education Program at the College for Financial Planning.
