Ellen Pack

Ellen joined Common Sense in 2013 and was named president in 2019. Ellen has more than 25 years of experience launching and growing consumer online products and services. In 1992, Ellen founded Women.com, one of the first consumer internet companies. She grew it into the largest internet destination for women, taking it public in 1999. In 2001, Women.com merged with iVillage, and NBC acquired the combined entity. Next Ellen ran a regional staffing agency in the Bay Area, which she helped expand and subsequently sold in 2008 (the agency is now part of Care.com). She went on to lead marketing at Elance, a pioneering freelance talent platform (now Upwork). Ellen is the author of Women's Wire Web Directory (1997). She served on the board of the San Francisco Friends School (2008–2014). Ellen holds a B.A. in economics from Columbia College and an M.B.A. from Columbia Business School.
