Michael Gaal currently serves as the Superintendent of the Colorado Springs School District 11, where the focus is on academic excellence and preparing students for a diverse society. Previously, Gaal held various leadership roles in education, including Deputy Chancellor for Innovation and Systems Improvement at the District of Columbia Public Schools and Chief of Staff for the Oakland Unified School District. Gaal's early career includes significant positions within the United States Air Force, culminating in high-ranking roles such as Deputy Director of Policy in the International Affairs Office. Gaal holds degrees from the United States Air Force Academy, University of Colorado Colorado Springs, and has completed advanced studies at The Broad Superintendents Academy and the National War College.
