Ron Baker became the Executive Director for the Public Employees’ Retirement Association of Colorado (PERA) in 2018. In this capacity, he is responsible for PERA’s operations, as well as the execution of PERA’s strategy implementation. He has been a member and active contributor to PERA’s executive leadership team since 2009.
Mr. Baker started his professional career as a Computer Programmer at Columbine Systems in Golden, Colorado. He joined PERA in 1994 as Senior Programmer Analyst. During his tenure with PERA, Mr. Baker has served as an Application Development Manager, the Director of the Application Development Division, Chief Technology Officer and Chief Administrative Officer before being appointed as Executive Director.
Mr. Baker led the implementation of the merger of the Denver Public Schools Retirement System (DPSRS) into PERA in 2009/2010. As Chief Administrative Officer, he led the implementation of the PERA Board’s Strategic Initiatives and managed PERA’s Application Development, Information Technology, Human Resources, Operations Support, Project Management, and Property Management divisions.
Since March 2018, Mr. Baker has been a board member for the Council of Institutional Investors (CII) and serves as the Policies Committee Chair. In addition, he is a member of the Executive Committee of the National Council on Teacher Retirement (NCTR).
Mr. Baker is a graduate of the University of Northern Colorado with a degree in mathematics, with a dual emphasis in computer science and liberal arts mathematics. He is a graduate of the Executive Leadership Program at the Daniels College of Business at the University of Denver.
