Joy Beckerman has over 20 years of professional experience in the legal and hemp industries. Joy began their career in 1999 as a Complex Civil Litigation Paralegal at Dorsey & Whitney LLP. In 2003, they founded Beckerman Legal Services, where they served as the Owner and Complex Civil Litigation Senior Paralegal. From 2004 to 2009, Joy worked part-time at Sun Construction Inc. & Sunwest Development Inc. as a Green Building & Human Resources Management, Contracts, and Bookkeeper. In 2009, they moved to Lee Smart, P.S., Inc. as a Complex Civil Litigation Senior Paralegal. In 2013, Joy founded Hemp Ace International and has since provided consulting, legal support, and expert witness services to the global community. Joy is also the host of the popular podcast Hemp Barons and an Advisory Board Member of Hemp Grower Magazine, the National Hemp Growers Cooperative, Environmental Living Industries, and Colorado Hemp Works, America's first post-prohibition hemp grain processing facility. Additionally, Joy has been a Hemp Columnist and Freelance Writer for Marijuana Venture Magazine since 2014. In 2018, they co-founded Colorado Hemp Works and in 2019, they became the Regulatory Officer & Industry Liaison for Elixinol and the Host of Hemp Barons Podcast for PodConx. Most recently, in 2020, they joined Zilis LLC as the Director of Legal Affairs.
Joy Beckerman's education history includes attending the University of Vermont from 1997 to 1998, where they studied English Language and Literature, General. Joy then attended Fisher College from 1988 to 1990, where they studied Paralegal Studies. In 2014, they attended Oregon State University to study Industrial Hemp. Joy also engaged in independent study from 1991 to 2014.
