James Phelan has extensive work experience in the manufacturing industry. James began their career at Genie Industries as a Manufacturing Engineer I, where they resolved daily production issues, implemented corrective actions, and promoted lean manufacturing. James then joined Colmac Coil Manufacturing, Inc. as a Manufacturing Engineer, where they conducted research, made recommendations for process improvements, and worked on cross-functional teams to implement these improvements. James later moved up to roles such as Manufacturing Engineering Manager, QC / Manufacturing Engineering Manager, and Plant Manager, where they were responsible for various aspects of plant operations, including safety, quality, production, and financial targets. Most recently, James Phelan served as the Vice President of Operations at Colmac Coil Manufacturing, Inc., overseeing the daily operations of the Midwest business segment and providing vision and leadership to a large team of direct and indirect reports.
James Phelan attended Washington State University from 2001 to 2005, where they obtained a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in Mechanical Engineering. In addition to their formal education, James Phelan also received additional certifications. In 2016, they completed the "UL Knowledge Solutions - Electrical Safety and Arc Flash Prevention" course at UL. Furthermore, in 2014, they obtained certification in "Interactive Leadership" from Associated Industries Inland NW.
