Chris Downes currently serves as the Policy and Law Lead Expert for Sustainable Agri-Food Systems at COLEAD.link since February 2022 and has been a Guest Lecturer in EU Food Law at Michigan State University since 2020. Previous academic roles include Guest Lecturer in International Trade Law at the Brussels School of International Studies (BSIS) from 2013 to 2023. Chris Downes has extensive professional experience, including a tenure as Senior Manager of International Trade & Regulatory Affairs at ECCO European Consulting Company from July 2004 to January 2022, and as a Consultant in Food Policy with European Advisory Services from 1998 to 2004. Chris Downes holds a PhD in International Trade Law and a Master of Laws in International Law with International Relations from BSIS, as well as a Master of Arts in European Politics and Culture from Vrije Universiteit Brussel and a Bachelor's degree in French and German from the University of Nottingham.
