Marissa Holman

Tax Manager at Cohen & Company

Marissa Holman has a diverse range of work experience. Marissa started their career as a Fixed Assets Shadow at Sherwin Williams in May 2013 and later worked as an IT Intern at the same company from June 2014 to August 2014. In September 2013, Marissa participated in the Target Sustainability Competition, where they led a group of freshman students and achieved a commendable 5th place. Marissa then joined Deloitte in November 2014 as a participant in the Deloitte FanTAXtic Case Study Competition. Marissa was selected as one of the two sophomore members on the team and played a crucial role in preparing a PowerPoint presentation and answering tax-related case study questions.

In 2015, Marissa gained further experience as a Property Accounting Intern at Phillips Edison & Company, where they completed bank reconciliations, as well as reconciliations for minimum rent, fixed assets, utilities, and construction in progress for over 100 properties. Marissa also processed invoices using Nexus Payables. Concurrently, from August 2015 to January 2016, Marissa worked as a Tax Co-op at Messer Construction Co.

Marissa's next position was at Ryan's Pub, where they served as part of the Kitchen Staff. During their tenure from February 2014 to May 2016, Marissa actively participated in food preparation, maintained strict hygiene standards, and trained new employees on restaurant operations. Marissa also managed cash drawers and ensured the readiness of equipment, dining areas, and customer service.

Most recently, Marissa joined Cohen & Company in August 2016 as a Staff Tax Accountant. Marissa demonstrated their expertise and dedication, leading to promotions to the roles of Senior Tax Accountant in February 2019 and Tax Manager in August 2021.

Marissa Holman completed their education in a chronological order. Marissa obtained a Masters in Taxation from The University of Akron from the year 2016 to 2017. Before that, they completed their Bachelor's Degree in Accounting from Xavier University starting in 2013 and finishing in 2016. Marissa began their education by graduating from Solon High School in 2013, where they pursued a College/University Preparatory and Advanced High School/Secondary Diploma Program. In addition to their formal education, Marissa Holman obtained the Certified Public Accountant certification from the Accountancy Board Of Ohio in August 2019.
