Tony Slatonbarker

VP, Energy & Sustainability at Coffman Engineers

Tony is the vice president of energy and sustainability and a principal in the Anchorage office. Tony manages and supports Coffman’s renewable and alternative energy projects companywide and oversees a team of alternative energy champions that are located in Coffman offices across the US. Additionally, Tony coordinates with technical leads for various energy engineering requirements for battery storage, combined heat and power (CHP), microgrids, solar, and wind projects.

Tony has been with Coffman since 2000 and he has been an advocate for sustainability and alternative energy his entire career. In fact, Tony took the very first United States Green Building Council’s (USGBC) exam, offered in 2003, and was part of the first group of LEED APs (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design Accredited Professional) in the nation. Ever since, Tony strives to make his projects more energy efficient, environmentally friendly, and have improved life cycles. He enjoys working with owners to help achieve their overall goals and he provides long term value and custom solutions for the client.

Tony is a licensed civil and structural engineer, with project management certifications. He has a degree in physics, a masters degree in engineering, as well as many years’ experience managing large multidiscipline projects. Throughout his career, Tony has worked on feasibility studies and designs for solar, wind and biomass energy systems, combined heat and power systems, microgrids, airport facilities, industrial oil and gas facilities, large and small (1 MW to 200 MW) battery storage facilities, large coal fired power plants, remote wind/diesel microgrids, district heating, and large scale wind turbine foundations (80 Meter towers).
