Akila Liyanage has had a diverse range of work experiences. In 2019, they worked as a Web Designer at Fiverr for a period of one and a half years. In 2020, they transitioned to CAKE Engineering as a Cloud/DevOps engineer and worked there until the end of 2021. They then joined Axiata Digital Labs in 2021 as an Associate Software Engineer and remained there until September 2022. In 2022, Akila co-founded Bamboo Digital and also started working as a Software Engineer at Codification. They recently joined Surge Global as a Software Engineer in November 2022.
Akila Liyanage began their education at St. Joseph's College Bandarawela from 2010 to 2011. They later attended Dharmapala N.M.V. Bandarawela from 2011 to 2018, focusing on Mathematics. In 2015, Akila enrolled in ESOFT Metro Campus and pursued a diploma in software engineering, specializing in Computer Science, which lasted until 2016. They then returned to ESOFT Metro Campus in 2018 and completed a diploma in hardware engineering and network administration, also in the field of Computer Science. Later that year, Akila attended Sabaragamuwa University of Sri Lanka for a Diploma in English Language and Literature, which they completed in 2019.
In the same year, Akila joined SLIIT and obtained a Higher National Diploma in Information Technology by 2021. They continued their studies at SLIIT and are currently pursuing a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Software Engineering, which is expected to be completed in 2023.
In addition to their formal education, Akila has obtained several certifications. These include "Automating Infrastructure on Google Cloud with Terraform" from Google in August 2022, "Building Containerized Applications on AWS" from Coursera in December 2020, "Guide to RHCSA Certification Exam" from Eduonix Learning Solutions Pvt Ltd in December 2020, "Getting started with Docker" from Pluralsight in October 2020, "AWS Fundamentals - Building Serverless Applications" from Amazon Web Services (AWS) in July 2020, "Learning REST APIs" from LinkedIn in July 2020, "Build web apps with ReactJS" and "Learn programming with Java" from OpenClassrooms in January 2020, "React Basics" from Udemy in January 2020, and "Angular Fast Crash Course" from Udemy in December 2019.
