Amrutha Balan is an experienced urban planning professional currently serving as an Analyst for the Infrastructure for Resilient Island States (IRIS) at the Coalition for Disaster Resilient Infrastructure since October 2022. Prior to this role, Amrutha worked as a Research Associate at ps Collective, contributing to a study aimed at making cities electric vehicle (EV) ready in collaboration with ICLEI South Asia and the Municipal Corporation of Rajkot. Amrutha has also served as a Graduate Teaching Associate at CEPT University and completed a Directed Research Project with the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs, focusing on statutory planning frameworks in various Indian states. Earlier experiences include a summer internship at the Administrative Staff College of India and roles as Project Architect and intern at Habitat Technology Group. Amrutha holds a Master’s degree in Urban Planning from CEPT University and a Bachelor’s degree in Architecture from Manipal School of Architecture and Planning.
