David L. Knoll has extensive experience in research and analysis, currently serving as a Senior Research Scientist at CNA Corporation since 2015, with previous roles as a Research Scientist and Research Analyst. In 2022, David held the position of Senior Fellow (non-resident) at the Irregular Warfare Initiative. Prior to this, David worked as an Independent Researcher for the Joint Improvised Explosive Device Defeat Organization and served as the Rosenthal Fellow at the Office of the Secretary of Defense. David also directed research for former Prime Minister of Pakistan Benazir Bhutto's book project. Educational credentials include a PhD in International Relations from The Fletcher School at Tufts University, a Master's in International Security Studies from the same institution, a Bachelor's Degree in Foreign Affairs and Religious Studies from the University of Virginia, and intensive Arabic language study at The American University in Cairo. Additionally, David served as a firefighter with the Seminole Trail Volunteer Fire Department from 2003 to 2006.
