Jay B. Cornell

Since his graduation from Rutgers University in 1983, Mr. Cornell has grown as a professional with CME Associates. Initially employed in the Survey Department during his college years he worked his way from Design Engineer to Project Manager and was eventually promoted to serve as a Partner in 1997. With more than 30 years of experience in all facets of civil engineering, Mr. Cornell is responsible for providing municipal engineering services and consulting engineering services to various Counties and Municipalities. Currently he is the primary contact for the Borough of Sayreville and the Township of South Brunswick.

Mr. Cornell has extensive knowledge in all branches of civil engineering. From the design of wastewater pump stations to water system improvements to roadway design to parks and recreation improvements he has been involved with all different types of capital projects over the years. In addition Mr. Cornell has represented the firm at Planning Board and Board of Adjustment meetings and also has been involved with the administration of multi-million dollar capital improvement projects. With the more recent focus on energy conservation Mr. Cornell has worked with various clients to develop solar energy savings programs for their benefit. Recent projects have included the construction of a 1 megawatt solar system at Middlesex County College and a 6.5 megawatt solar system at the Middlesex County Apple Orchard Lane Complex.

CME Associates has been honored by the New Jersey Society of Municipal Engineers numerous times over the past 30 years for projects designed by Mr. Cornell. Most recent awards include the design of a Park and Ride Facility that was coordinated between various Municipal, County, and State agencies and the design of permitting of a municipal waterfront park and boat launching facility.

Mr. Cornell graduated with honors from Rutgers University with a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering. He is a member of the Chi Epsilon Honor Society, the Tau Beta Pi Honor Society, the American Society of Civil Engineers, and the New Jersey Society of Municipal Engineers. In addition Mr. Cornell is a licensed New Jersey Professional Engineer, New Jersey Professional Planner, a Certified Public Works Manager, and a Certified Municipal Engineer.
