Paul Hayter has a diverse work experience in the technology industry. Paul started their career as a UNIX Consultant at RHE & Associates in 2005, where they worked on UNIX Sysadmin and support, Sun Solaris sysadmin, Debian Linux sysadmin, Redhat Linux sysadmin, Informix SQL DBA work, and PHP and JavaScript development.

In 2009, Paul joined Telecom New Zealand as a Senior Systems Support Specialist, contracted via RHE, and stayed there until 2010.

From 2010 to 2012, they worked as a System Integrator, Core Services at Vodafone New Zealand, where they delivered UNIX projects, worked on HP-UX and Solaris platforms, and engaged in major projects such as SMSR upgrade and Payments system upgrade. Paul utilized their skills in HP-UX and Solaris shell scripting, Oracle and Informix DBA, C++ code debugging, fault analysis using gdb, automated testing frameworks, and network troubleshooting.

Paul then worked at Sundata from 2012 to 2013 as a Linux/Unix Solutions Consultant, serving as a Red Hat consultant and project engineer for a Virtualization rollout for an Insurance industry client.

In 2013, they rejoined Vodafone New Zealand as a Non Production Environments Engineer, handling various responsibilities until 2018.

Finally, in 2018, Paul joined ClearPoint Ltd as a DevOps Engineer, where they continue to work currently.

Paul Hayter completed their Bachelor of Business degree with a major in Accounting and Computing at Southern Cross University from 1989 to 1991. In addition to their formal education, Hayter has obtained several certifications, including Red Hat Certified Engineer from Red Hat in August 2012, Google Cloud Certified Professional Cloud Architect from Google in September 2019, AWS Certified SysOps Administrator - Associate from Amazon Web Services in June 2018, and AWS Certified Solution Architect - Associate from Amazon Web Services in November 2017.
