Will Akin, Ed.D. serves as the Sheriff at the Clay County Sheriff's Office since January 2013, with prior roles including Captain of the Emergency Preparedness Division and Lieutenant. Akin has experience as an Instructor at Strategos International and as an Adjunct Instructor at MidAmerica Nazarene University. Previous law enforcement roles include Patrolman with the South Bend Police Department and Police Officer with the Phoenix Police Department. Akin is a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving as a UH-60 Blackhawk Pilot. Educational qualifications include a Doctor of Education in Ethical Leadership from Olivet Nazarene University, a Master of Business Administration, and a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice. Akin has completed specialized training at the FBI National Academy and other law enforcement institutes.
