James McCarthy has a work experience of being a Web Developer at Civix from April 2022 onwards. Prior to that, they worked as a Software Developer at Clearcable from April 2020 to April 2022. In this role, they demonstrated proficiency in various technologies and took a leading role in application development. James also provided support to clients and performed administrative tasks. Before Clearcable, they had co-op experiences as a Software Developer at Evenica in 2018 and 2017.

James McCarthy attended the University of Toronto from 2010 to 2014, where they pursued a Bachelor's degree in History & Political Science. James then proceeded to Mohawk College from 2017 to 2020, obtaining an Ontario College Advanced Diploma in Software Development.
