Alice Marie Heard-Roberts

Council Member at City of Wharton

Alice Marie Heard-Roberts is a lifelong resident of Wharton. She attended schools in the Wharton Independent School District, graduating with the class of 1998 and completed the Vocational Nursing Program in 2002 at Wharton County Junior College. Mrs. Heard- Roberts obtained her Associates Degree in Mortuary Science in 2007 at the Commonwealth Institute of Funeral Service. After a short break, she went on to complete her Associate’s Degree in nursing from San Jacinto College in 2008. As the years passed, she desired more and earned her Bachelor’s in Nursing from Texas Tech in 2014. After working and taking several classes simultaneously, she completed her Master’s Degree in Nursing Leadership and Management in August 2018. Mrs. Heard-Roberts works as a registered nurse, contract mortician, and a full-time mother. She has been married to Daren Roberts Jr. since 2014 and they have a combined 7 children together. She is a long-standing member of St. Stephen’s Missionary Baptist Church.

Over the years her heavy load of studies prevented her from being as active in organizations as she would have liked, but she continued to be behind the scenes for many events including church, youth sports, and other organizations throughout the Wharton community. In the near future, she hopes to become a member of several organizations in town.

In 2006, Mrs. Heard-Roberts received the Citizen of the Year Award for Wharton County after performing life saving measures on a then 9 year old boy. She has become a familiar face having worked at the local Pizza Hut, nursing homes, and within the funeral industry. She currently works primarily as a registered nurse. Most of her tenure has been working with individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. In her spare time she enjoys fishing, thrifting, couponing, shopping, or visiting the local nursing homes.
