Robert Niewenhuizen has extensive experience in engineering and public works, currently serving as the Director of Engineering & Public Works for the City of Salmon Arm since September 2007. In this role, responsibilities include overseeing departments such as Engineering, Utilities, Roads, Transportation, and Parks, as well as managing water and wastewater treatment, Shuswap Regional Airport, Shuswap Transit, solid waste and recycling programs, cemetery operations, and marina and wharf services. Prior experience includes serving as the Director of Engineering & Public Works for the City of Swift Current from November 1992 to August 2007 and working as an Engineering Assistant at Energy Mines & Resources from August 1991 to October 1992, focusing on special projects and boundary surveys. Earlier in the career, Robert Niewenhuizen was a Civil/Survey Technologist at Cochrane-Lavalin Engineering from May 1989 to August 1991.
