Melissa Poehlman, AICP, has a diverse work experience spanning various roles and organizations. Melissa began their career in 2003 as a Research Analyst Intern at the Minnesota Department of Employment and Economic Development. In 2004, they worked as a Public Works Technician at the City of Woodbury before joining the City of Richfield in 2005. At the City of Richfield, Melissa held several positions, including Assistant Community Development Coordinator, Planning & Zoning Administrator, City Planner, and Assistant Community Development Director/Planning & Redevelopment Manager. In these roles, they managed city planning and housing inspections teams, led complex redevelopment projects, administered zoning ordinances and comprehensive plans, and reviewed development proposals. In 2017, Melissa served as a Professional Development Officer at the American Planning Association - Minnesota Chapter. Currently, Melissa is the Director of Community Development/Executive Director at the Richfield Housing & Redevelopment Authority.

Melissa Poehlman, AICP completed their education with a Master of Arts degree in Urban and Regional Planning from the Humphrey School of Public Affairs. Melissa attended the school from 2002 to 2004. Prior to that, Melissa obtained their Bachelor of Arts in Geography & Integrated Liberal Arts from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, where they studied from 1996 to 2000.

In addition to their formal education, Melissa holds a certification as an American Institute of Certified Planners (AICP), granted by the American Planning Association. The exact month and year when they obtained this certification are not specified.
