Lief Erickson has a diverse range of work experience. Lief started their career as a Graduate Teaching Assistant and Student Athlete Services Tutor at UMKC in 2009. In 2012, they worked as an Organizing Director at Grassroots Voter Outreach and then as an Account Researcher at J.G Wentworth. In 2013, they worked briefly as an Administrative Assistant at Drexel University before joining the City of Philadelphia. At the City of Philadelphia, Lief held various roles such as Finance and Budget Policy Analyst, Chief of Staff, and Operations Director at the Department of Human Services. Lief is currently serving as the Policy Director in the Office of the Philadelphia City Controller.
Lief Erickson holds a Bachelor's degree in Economics from Portland State University, which they obtained between the years 2002 and 2007. Lief further pursued their education, earning a Master's degree in Science in Economics from the University of Missouri-Kansas City, which they completed between 2008 and 2012. Additionally, Lief also temporarily attended Danish International Studies in 2004 and 2005, focusing on Danish International Studies and European Union organization and social integration, although they did not obtain a degree from this institution.
