Charles "Chachi" Carvalho serves as the Chief Equity Officer for the City of Pawtucket, RI, since March 2023. Prior to this role, Carvalho was the School Culture and Community Engagement Coordinator at Charles E. Shea High School from January 2020 to March 2023 and held various positions at Nowell Leadership Academy, including Instructional Support Specialist, Art Week Manager, and Capstone Coordinator from October 2018 to January 2020. Carvalho's experience in education also includes roles at Roger Williams University as a Gateway to College Student Resource Specialist and at College Unbound as an Advisor for the Gateway Program. Additionally, Carvalho worked as a Learning Specialist at the Metropolitan Regional Career and Technical Center and as a Teaching Partner at the Segue Institute for Learning. Early career included serving as the Director of Youth Engagement for Youth In Action, Inc. Carvalho holds a Bachelor's degree in Sociology and Community Studies from Charter Oak State College and an Associate of Arts in sociology and African American studies from Boston College.
