Fabien Levy is the Press Secretary at the City of New York. Fabien was previously with the Office of the New York State Attorney General from May 2019 to January 2022, where they served as Press Secretary and Senior Advisor. In this role, they helped develop and execute a communications strategy for New York State Attorney General Letitia James that fulfilled their promises to serve as a fighter for New Yorkers, a check on harmful Trump Administration policies, and a national leader on progressive issues.
As Attorney General James' chief on-the-record spokesman, Fabien pitched stories to reporters and responded to press inquiries - leading to tens of thousands of news stories from media outlets across New York, the nation, and the world. Fabien also led the rollout of hundreds of lawsuits and investigations, including more than 75 lawsuits against unlawful Trump Administration policies; high-profile suits involving the National Rifle Association (NRA), Facebook, multiple opioid manufacturers & distributors, those seeking to unlawfully profit off the COVID-19 pandemic, and the Trump Organization; and all cases coming out of the Divisions for Appeals & Opinions, Economic Justice, and State Counsel, as well as special projects for the Executive Division & key cases out of the 15 Regional Offices & the Divisions for Criminal Justice & Social Justice.
In addition to advising Attorney General James on a variety of policy and political issues, Fabien also supervised the media relations team and managed their caseloads on a variety of subject areas.
Fabien Levy pursued a Bachelor of Arts from Syracuse University, with a dual major in political science and broadcast journalism.
Fabien Levy reports to Eric L. Adams, Mayor. They work with Dan Garodnick - Director, Department of City Planning, Donovan Richards - Borough President, Queens, and Jacques Jiha - Commissioner, Department of Finance.
